# Murmuration

> Murmuration is a nonprofit civic technology and data organization that equips community-based organizations with the insights, data, tools, and services they need to build and activate power, driving equitable and lasting change across America.

Murmuration's mission is to organize a network of partners to help communities build and activate the power to transform America. Murmuration was founded by Emma Bloomberg and named after flocks of starlings that move as one while remaining individual — a metaphor for coordinated community organizing. The organization provides civic engagement infrastructure to grassroots organizations that are working to transform unjust systems but have historically lacked access to the sophisticated data tools available to well-funded outside interests.
