Charter schools often face challenges in renewing their charter — the process is time-consuming, comprehensive, and reliant on factors such as academic and operational performance. This rings true for Noble Schools, a network of charter schools located throughout Chicago. To ensure that their community continues to have access to high-performing schools, they needed to better understand, engage, and mobilize their community members to advocate for the renewal of their charter. To do so effectively, they needed to maintain data, identify parent leaders, and register their voting-age students to create a pipeline of charter school advocates — all of which proved difficult for them to do without the tech infrastructure to access and leverage voter data to conduct targeted outreach.

Noble Schools leveraged Murmuration’s tools to build a robust ladder of engagement, which is a system that helps track and increase engagement of coalition members. By using this tool, Noble Schools was able to identify effective parent leaders to engage with local lawmakers. This provided Noble Schools with more time to conduct organizing efforts in the field against anti-charter school legislation and established a parent network that could share their opposition to these bills and engage local lawmakers.
