Emma Bloomberg
Emma Bloomberg is a nonprofit founder and speaker focused on promoting civic participation, mobilizing community engagement, and rebuilding trust in democracy.

“I believe we each have a responsibility to help build a society that is more inclusive, more equitable, and more responsive to the people it serves. That belief–in the power of participation, community, and collective action–continues to guide my work every day.”
About Emma Bloomberg
Emma Bloomberg has spent more than two decades working across civic engagement, philanthropy, public service, and education to help communities address complex challenges and build long-term capacity for change.
Her work is grounded in a central belief: that healthy democracies depend not only on political institutions, but on whether people feel connected to their communities, capable of participating in public life, and supported by systems that allow civic engagement to endure over time.
As founder and CEO of Murmuration, Bloomberg leads a nonprofit that organizes a network of partners and equips them with the insights, tools, and services needed to help communities build and activate the power to transform America. But her work extends beyond any single institution, focusing more broadly on how communities build trust, participation, and durable power in a rapidly changing civic landscape. Before founding Murmuration, Bloomberg served as chief of staff at Robin Hood Foundation and worked in the New York City mayor’s office. She also serves on the boards of Bloomberg Philanthropies, KIPP Foundation, and several national education and civic organizations.
In 2026, she was named one of USA TODAY’s Women of the Year, an honor recognizing women who have made a significant impact in their communities and beyond.
